2 thieves steal from school and sleep in classroom | Mumbai news

Mumbai: Two 55-year-old thieves slept for five hours in a classroom of the school where they allegedly stole from before boarding the first train from Dahisar to Nalasopara. Police detained two suspects for alleged theft 85,000 and its value FD documents 1 crore from Seth DM High School, Borivali (East) on September 27.

According to Kasturba Marg Police, the accused Anna Durai Devendar and Murgesh Devendar are residents of Diva and Nalasopara respectively.

The school principal had filed a complaint with the police on September 27 that the principal’s office had been broken into. Documents relating to 85,000 cash and fixed deposits It was claimed that 1 million lira was stolen. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case of theft against unknown persons under sections 305 (a) (burglary) and 331 (3) (house burglary for commission of offence) (4) (house burglary at night) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.

After reviewing CCTV footage, police saw two masked men enter the school building from the back door at 12pm while a guard was on duty at the front gate. They robbed the building and slept in a classroom. In the footage taken at 5 a.m., the men are seen leaving with raincoats and an umbrella hiding their faces. It was raining a lot that day.

“The umbrella was rainbow colored and unique. We tracked him down,” said a police officer from Kasturba Marg Police Station. “Since both thieves were elderly, they slowly walked towards Dahisar and got into the car. “We lost track of them for a while in the footage,” the officer added. They then followed the thieves who boarded the train and managed to land at Nalasopara.

“We tracked them both down. When we searched a house, we found this: 35,000 cash and a rainbow-colored umbrella. “Based on this, we arrested them,” he said.

Anna Durai, who often stayed at her sister’s house in Malwani, had a theft case against her in 1999, police said. He visited many schools from Malad to Dahisar, knowing that cash was often kept in the principals’ cabin. .

“The two were arrested and sent to the courthouse where they were taken into police custody,” the police officer added.
