Jersey stars target T20 World Cup with winter in Australia

All this leads to the dream of making the World Cup.

Jersey will face Scotland, Netherlands, Italy and neighbors Guernsey next summer for a place in the T20 World Cup finals in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.

The top two teams in the group will advance; While Jersey finished fourth in the 2023 qualifying rounds, they also advanced to the qualifying rounds with a single win in the global qualifying tournament a year ago.

“Playing against those types of sides like Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands are matches you want to be a part of as a player,” says Tribe.

“We’ve come very close to beating teams like Scotland in the past and we know as a team we’re not that far away from that, so we always go out on the pitch hoping to come away with some kind of win.

“These are the games you prepare for over the winter, you do all your pre-season work, so hopefully you can go out there and do your best on the day.”

“These world tournaments are so brutal now,” adds Carlyon.

“All the other teams are getting better, finding players and getting stronger and stronger.

“It’s different in Jersey. The core squad is all from Jersey and all local players, so we have to work hard, be professional and compete with those sides.”
