MSDF organized a seminar on Qatar-Morocco cultural ties

DOHA: The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), represented by the Family Strengthening Department, organized a seminar on ‘Qatar and Morocco: Facts and Prospects’.

The event was held at the headquarters of the Institute, within the scope of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, in cooperation with the Qatar Museums Authority, the Years of Culture Committee and the Doha Institute of Postgraduate Education.

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Doha Institute of Graduate Studies, Dr. In her opening speech, Amal Ghazal highlighted the fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and Family and the Moroccan Ambassador to Qatar, HE Mohamed Setri. He noted that he emphasized the importance of the role of academics in deepening Qatar-Moroccan relations and that this seminar is an important step to strengthen relations between the two countries and embody a unique Arab cooperation model.

The seminar attracted attention with the participation of many researchers who presented various papers focusing on the social and humanitarian aspects of the friendship between the people of Qatar and Morocco.

The documents also reviewed Moroccan expatriates’ experiences in Qatar and the impact of these experiences on their lives; Additionally, the exchange of experiences between Qatari citizens residing in or visiting Morocco has also enriched the cultural and social understanding between the two countries.

At the seminar, Ismail Attia, a graduate of the Institute’s History Program, presented a paper titled “History of Morocco-Qatar Relations”, in which he examined the development of these relations, which witnessed gradual growth and concrete development, through various stages.

Abdelkarim Amengay, assistant professor at the Doha Institute of Graduate Studies, presented a study on the strength of Qatar-Morocco political relations and their mutual support in matters of destiny, reviewing examples of each country’s support for the other in international forums.

Fatima Al Nuaimi, Director of the Family Strengthening Department, said: “The Ministry’s participation in the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture activities represents the importance of highlighting the spirit of cooperation in broad areas, including cultural and social cooperation between the two countries.” .”

He added: “This confirms the integration of brotherly relations that bind the two brother countries. The exhibition gives the opportunity to highlight the spirit of Qatari and Moroccan culture, while also offering visitors the opportunity to get to know the culture of the two countries through a variety of products.”
