Family continues to search for answers after 21-year-old was murdered two years ago

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Birmingham family needs your help finding the person who shot and killed their son and brother. Two years ago, 21-year-old Kendall Thornton was shot while driving on Pinson Valley Parkway.

Crime Stoppers said Thornton was heading home when the driver behind him noticed his car leaving the road and heading into the woods. Police found his car next to a tree and thought it was a fatal car accident until they saw his car was riddled with bullets.

The person who pulled the trigger is still out there. Initially crime stoppers said tips were coming in for this case, but two years later that all stopped. Law enforcement believes other drivers must have seen something and they want to hear from them.

Now with $12,500 in reward money, Crime Stoppers’ Bob Copus says they hope it will encourage people to do the right thing and speak up. Two years later, she says it still bothers the Thornton family, especially her mother.

“He called me and said, ‘Bob, any updates?’ he said. I told her, ‘Ma’am, you know I would have called you if it had happened.’ I said. So he asked if there was a way to get the case back there. I ask you to speak now. Let’s solve this case and give this family some relief,” says Copus.
