Culprit in Theft and Fire at Judicial Officer’s House Not on Record Yet, Punjab and Haryana High Court Orders Speedy Investigation

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has sought speedy investigation in a case related to theft and fire that took place at the residence of the Magistrate in Ambala on October 4.

Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetarpal were hearing the suo moto case initiated after the incident.

The court had earlier sought a comprehensive report from DGP Haryana. In the same vein, a status report was submitted by IPS Shatrujeet Kapur, DGP, detailing the investigation into the October 04 incident of burglary and setting on fire of the house of a Judicial Officer posted in Ambala District Courts.

Following the report, the board made the following opinion: “In the report dated 12.10.2024 submitted earlier by the Director General of Police, Haryana, it is stated that the investigation in the case recorded regarding the incident dated 04.10.2024 is continuing and the defendants have not been registered yet.

As a result, he ordered that the investigation be accelerated and completed by December 5, the next hearing date.
