Auburn man sentenced to prison for armed robbery and assault

An Auburn man was sentenced to six years in state prison after admitting to a violent robbery in Cayuga County.

Darryl Jones, 59, was sentenced Tuesday for multiple felonies, including weapons possession, assault and first-degree robbery.

His sentence includes five years of post-release supervision.

The incident occurred in August 2023 when Jones and co-defendant Michael Barski attacked a visitor at an apartment on Orchard Street. He held a gun to the victim’s head and demanded cash and a mobile phone. Barski tied the victim around his neck while Jones attacked him with a metal cane.
