The trial of the defendant who killed his wife was postponed

The trial of the man accused of killing his wife while putting their baby in the stroller has been postponed until next summer.

Habibur Innocent, 26, was due to appear in court on December 2 in connection with the fatal stabbing of Kulsuma Akter.

Miss Akter, 27, was attacked while pushing her baby in Bradford city center on April 6. The baby was not harmed.

The hearing was postponed to June 9, 2025 due to problems in the psychiatric report.

At a hearing earlier this year, Mr Innocent, of Leamington Avenue, Burnley, pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife and possessing a bladed article.

Mr Innocent also denied two charges of assault by beating, one count of threatening to kill and one count of stalking against Ms Akter.

Mr Innocent is accused of stalking Ms Akter between November 2023 and April 2024; The charge alleges that he “tracked her movements and placed her in a safe house, sent her messages of a threatening nature that included threats to kill someone else, and sent her photos and videos of himself.” area and building of residence”.

Mr Innocent has been detained since his arrest in April.
