Oregon teenager in court for brutal attack and murder of 13-year-old girl in the park

BEAVERTON, Ore. A grisly case in Beaverton, Oregon, in which a teenage boy is accused of the assault and murder of 13-year-old Milana Li, is set to go to trial Tuesday.

Opening statements are expected to be made on the first day of the hearing.

Daniel Gore, who was 16 at the time of the 2022 crime, was living at a campground in Westside Linear Park when he allegedly raped and strangled Li to death on May 8, 2022, then dumped her body in a nearby stream.

Milana Li was reported missing by her mother the next morning. His body was found by law enforcement on May 10, 2022.

Gore was identified as the suspect and captured after a brief foot chase, where he was found hiding on the balcony of a nearby apartment complex. He had an active arrest warrant from Washington County Juvenile Court at the time of his arrest.

The investigation revealed disturbing details about Gore’s alleged interests and behavior. According to court documents, police discovered that the defendant was “obsessed” with a rapper named “7xvn” who was known for lyrics that romanticized violence, including “murder and strangulation.”

Police said Gore’s diary depicted dark images and violent themes and was often accompanied by phrases or symbols associated with the artist “7xvn.”

Court documents state that a search of Gore’s phone turned up browsing history and search terms that were “highly relevant” to the charges, which the prosecution sought to admit as evidence of intent.

Gore is alleged to have repeatedly researched terms related to violent pornography and the killing of women, particularly through neck trauma. The list presented in court documents includes:

The prosecution also states that Gore admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana on the day of the murder, and that he gave Milana at least one alcoholic beverage in addition to the marijuana.

“His willingness to provide her with intoxicating substances demonstrates his desire to gain Milana Li’s trust, eliminate her inhibitions, and make her more vulnerable,” the documents state. he claims.

Police said Gore’s campsite was littered with condom wrappers, beverage cans, cigarettes and other debris related to the incident. The camping blanket straps in his tent reportedly matched the camping blanket found on Milana’s remains.

Additionally, the prosecution alleges that Gore’s girlfriend, Eva Camara, initially gave little information to law enforcement but later revealed incriminating details. Allegedly, during a phone call on the night of the murder, the defendant confessed to killing Milana Li. Camara described the defendant as manipulative and controlling and shared that the defendant threatened to harm her if she upset him. She also shared that Gore said he would kill a girl if he wanted to.

Gore, now 18, is being tried as an adult on two counts of murder in the First Degree, one count of rape in the First Degree and one count of sexual abuse in the First Degree.
