Google Home is arguably the best smart home ecosystem. It’s about to get even better, as Google has announced a major fall update for everything in your apps. dock speakers your Google powered TVand everything in between.

The update brings Gemini AI to just about everything (via Google Nest Community). But there are also better notifications about device improvements, smart home integrations, and connected wearables. This is a huge feature dump and affects every single one of your Google smart home devices.

We knew Gemini and Nest would merge at some point, so it’s no surprise that Nest cameras are looking for AI cameras. You can now view the camera history as “Did anyone deliver a package today?” You can search with natural language queries such as.

This feature is limited to Nest Aware Plus subscribers and then some. But this shows the potential for the future of Nest cameras.

Gemini is also added to many other Google Home gadgets. Home automation is getting the AI ​​treatment with a new Help Me Create tool that uses Gemini to simplify routine creation. You no longer need to navigate multiple menus and solve complex logical riddles. Explain what you want in plain language, such as, “Turn on the Christmas lights outside, play my Holiday song playlist on the living room Nest speaker, and turn on the Christmas tree lights at sunset every night.” Gemini will arrange this for you.

The update also includes a new Google Home extension to the Gemini app. You can now manage your lights, thermostats, and other smart home devices directly from Gemini.

Expanded smart home integrations for greater control

It’s not all artificial intelligence. The fall update includes integrations with the Google Pixel Watch. Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell broadcasts can now be viewed on your wrist. You can check who is at the door when you go for a run. The Pixel Tablet will also display Nest Doorbell notifications with two-way talk and quick response options.

Google TV is also a little more popular

Google TV now includes home controls in a pop-up panel. If you don’t have your Pixel, Pixel tablet, or Pixel Watch with you, you can access and control your smart home and check live camera feeds from the television.

There’s also a new, improved overview feature for popular shows. This will give you more information about a program and help you choose what to watch. Not available for all shows or providers.
