Man charged with murder after death in Wolverhampton

Alex Turner will take the stage Walsall Magistrates’ Court On Thursday, two days after he was arrested and charged with murder following the death of a man in Whitmore Reans. Wolverhampton on Friday.

Nicholas Cope was found having a heart attack on Newhampton Road East at around 6pm and died shortly afterwards, an inquest began soon after.

Officers from the St Peters and Park Neighborhood Team made the arrest on Tuesday morning and Turner, 31, was taken into custody where he is currently located.

a spokesperson West Midlands Police He said: “We have charged a 31-year-old man with murder following the death of a man in Whitmore Reans on Friday evening.

“Nicholas Cope, 48, sadly passed away after being found suffering from a heart attack on Newhampton Road East at around 6pm.

“Investigators are trying to establish exactly what happened and officers from our St Peters and Park Neighborhood Team made an arrest in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

“Today Alex Turner was charged with murder. He remains in custody ahead of a hearing at Walsall Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.”

Det Insp Nigel Box, who is investigating, said: “Whilst this is a significant step forward in our investigations, we continue to investigate the full circumstances of this tragic incident.

“We understand that Newhampton Road East is a busy road and we would ask any motorists who were in the area around 6pm on Friday to have a look at their dash cams as they may have footage that will assist the investigation.
