Youth programs in agriculture are supported by grants

State and federal government distribute funds Alberta 4-H To help promote careers in agriculture.

By mid-century, global food demand could increase by 40 to 50 per cent or more, Agriculture Minister RJ Sigurdson announced in Calgary on Tuesday.

“We know that Alberta is a net exporter. We have the highest quality food products in the world,” he said.

“As demand continues to grow, we know our trading partners will look to Alberta as a solution.”

The grant will provide $731,000 for three courses the organization offers to youth.

These include Introduction to 4-H, Farm Safety and Mental Health, and Senior Spring Symposium.

Officials say the mental health program is new and offers training in equine therapy.

Funding was provided through a partnership between the federal and state governments. Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership program.
