Karnataka High Court to hear CM Siddaramaiah’s plea against MUDA scam probe on November 23

Karnataka High Court to hear CM Siddaramaiah’s plea against MUDA scam probe on November 23

The case relates to allegations of corruption in granting land to Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

According to the complaint, Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi was “gifted” a little over three acres of land by her brother Mallikarjuna Swamy. Such lands were initially purchased, subsequently de-notified and purchased by Swamy. Although it belongs to private individuals, it was developed by MUDA.

Swamy claims that he bought the land in 2004 and gifted it to his sister. However, since the land was developed illegally by MUDA, Parvathi sought compensation. He allegedly received highly inflated compensation under the 50:50 plan, including 14 developed parcels of alternative land whose value was much higher than the original three acres.
