TN doctors across the state in excitement after oncologist stabbing; patients were shot

Following the stabbing of a senior oncologist at Kalaignar Centenary Hospital on Wednesday, the Federation of Government Doctors Association (FoGDA) announced a boycott of all non-patient related activities from Thursday, November 14.

The Federation stated that it will refrain from non-medical activities, including review meetings, documentation on the Prime Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme and teaching activities in all medical colleges.

However, reports indicate that government doctors in many districts have expanded the boycott to all activities, affecting outpatient services across the state and affecting a large number of patients.

FoGDA will determine the next action plan at the executive committee meeting scheduled for November 17.

Meanwhile, Indian Medical Association (IMA) Tamil Nadu State Branch President Dr. KM Abul Hasan announced that around 45,000 doctors in 8,000 private hospitals in the state will join the strike till 6 pm on Thursday.

Outpatient treatments and elective surgeries will not be performed during this period, except for emergency departments.
