Man faces offensive weapons charge after incident outside parliament

A 34-year-old man has been charged with two counts of possessing an offensive weapon following reports that a man was carrying a knife outside Parliament House.

Lewis Allington, who has been in Cambridgeshire since March, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, the Metropolitan Police said.

Following the incident on Tuesday afternoon, police cars were seen parked outside the Carriage Gates, one of the most important entrances to the Palace of Westminster.

The Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been charged in connection with an incident outside the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday, November 12.

“Lewis Allington, Cambridgeshire, dated March 34, was charged with two offenses of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place on Wednesday, November 13.

“He will be remanded into custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 14.”
