Clifton Suspension Bridge splitting from X sparks online puns

Bridge is not the only organization to announce its separation from X, which was acquired by billionaire Musk in 2022.

The Guardian newspaper announced this week that it would no longer post, saying it had become a “toxic media platform”.

Mr Musk has strongly supported Donald Trump and has been tasked with cutting government spending in his incoming administration.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge post was seen by more than 1.9 million people, with thousands of interactions.

It caused the bridge, which was opened in 1864, to move in the X direction.

Thousands of replies, people asking “suspending your account?” It includes comments on bridge-related word games such as. and that the site was “burning bridges.”

Another reply said: “We are now anxiously waiting to hear from Scotland – or will the Forth Rail Bridge decide to console?”
