Surabaya (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for People’s Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar said his team is focused on meeting the needs of people displaced by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in North Flores in East Nusa Tenggara.

“Currently, the focus is on rehabilitation in shelters to meet basic needs, including food, healthcare and psychological services, provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs and BNPB (National Disaster Management Agency),” he said in Surabaya on Thursday.

Alexander expressed his gratitude for the community’s strong initiative in supporting outreach efforts. “The community, as well as the government, are working together to help,” he added.

“Next, there will be rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, such as addressing the economic disruption. We support efforts to stimulate the market and stimulate economic growth,” he said.

The government will also support the construction of new housing to relocate those affected.

“Yesterday, the Minister of Housing and Settlement (Maruarar Sirait) visited the area. The location and relocation area will be prepared. What is important now is that the emergency situation is over, the emergency response phase is over, then we can continue the work on relocation,” he said.

Earlier, the government held a special limited meeting under the direct instruction of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to discuss how to handle the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption.

President Prabowo instructed his staff to work seriously and concertedly to manage the explosion disaster.

He also emphasized that the central government should be available to assist affected residents as much as possible and ensure rehabilitation, reconstruction and economic recovery for the community.
