Philadelphia crime spree sees 1 suspect rob charity, school, stores: police

Philadelphia police are tracking a pattern of thefts by a single suspect who they say has targeted a section of the city over the past few weeks.

There were five separate commercial burglaries in Germantown between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. from Sept. 23 to Oct. 31.

Police said in each burglary, an elderly man used a rock to gain entry and was later seen pushing a shopping cart full of garbage bags:

  • September 23 – Audio electronics stolen from Ultimo Coffee Shop at 5901 Wayne Boulevard
  • October 8 – Deodorants, add-ons, and laundry detergent were picked up at Family Dollar at 42 West Chelten Boulevard
  • Oct. 13 – Clothing, cleaning supplies and tools were collected from Kinesics Dance Dynamics at 5427 Germantown Blvd.
  • October 24 – Three laptops, a MacBook, a safe and a security camera were stolen from Covenant House at 31 East Armat Street
  • October 31 – Apple iPad retrieved from Germantown Friends School at 31 West Coulter Street
