Gunter, Giggs Jr and Gabriele Biancheri: Wales’ next generation

Gunter, Giggs Jr and Gabriele Biancheri: Wales’ next generation

They are managed by a Euro 2016 hero, have Giggs in their starting line-up and boast an exciting striker in Manchester United.

As Wales’ new era continues under Craig Bellamy, the country’s new generation takes an important step in Scotland this week.

The Wales Under-19s, which includes names some are already familiar with and some who may be future acquaintances, have started their final European qualifiers.

The campaign, managed by 109s defender Chris Gunter, started with a win against the home team in Stirling.

They clearly impressed former Scotland midfielder Nigel Quashie, whose son Brayden Clarke played at centre-back in the 1-0 win for Arsenal.

“The Wales squad has shown signs that this group of players will continue to get better.” shared on x , externalMany of them, including Clarke, are from a team that reached the Under-17 Euro finals last summer.

Clarke isn’t the former pro’s only child on the side; Zach Giggs played a big part in setting up Wales’ only goal by wearing the dragon that his father, Manchester United great Ryan, wore 64 times.

But as Wales look forward to games against France (Saturday, November 16) and Liechtenstein (Tuesday, November 19) to progress to the elite round qualifiers in the spring and then possibly the first major finals in this age category, Welsh football bosses are looking forward to seeing top-flight stars in the not-too-distant future. The only people he hopes for are young people.
