Toys for Tots suspends Allen County program for 2024

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – Toys for Tots Fort Wayne officials announced Thursday morning that the nonprofit campaign will not be running this holiday season.

21Alive checked the national Toys for Tots website and the local campaign listing for Allen County says “not covered.”

21Alive spoke with leaders of other charities in the area, and they tell us they will try to fill the void left by the suspension of the Allen County Toys for Tots program.

We also reached out to the national organization to find out why the local campaign was suspended but have yet to receive a response.

The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is run by U.S. Marines who coordinate toy collections to distribute gifts to children in need during the holiday season. According to the program’s website, they run local campaigns in more than 800 communities in all 50 states.
