TN teacher charged and suspended for allegedly threatening 14 students

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Tennessee teacher is facing charges and suspension from the school board. He allegedly threatened approximately 14 students on Wednesday, according to the Crossville Police Department.

CPD alleges 56-year-old James Green of Cookeville made threats against students and was subsequently arrested and charged with reckless endangerment.

Around 8 a.m. Thursday, the parent of a student at Stone Memorial High School notified the school resource officer that Green had threatened a classroom full of students the day before. The SRO contacted Crossville Police Department investigators to investigate the reported threat.

CPD said there were 14 students in the classroom when the threat occurred and no injuries were reported. The Cumberland County School Board also took action against Green, suspending him from work and banning him from all property in the school system.

β€œThe school system will continue to work with local law enforcement to ensure safe schools in Cumberland County,” CPD said.
