Twenty-year-old rescued by plane after serious traffic accident

STARKE, Fla. (WCJB) – A 20-year-old man was airlifted to a local emergency room in Bradford County following a serious car accident.

On Thursday night, a truck rolled over on the CR100A overpass near mile marker three in Bradford County.

According to Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith, the vehicle rolled over on the bypass and the seriously injured driver was taken by helicopter to HCA Florida Starke Emergency Department.

A Shands Care team was also present at the emergency room and was ready to transport the 20-year-old patient to UF Health Shands Hospital if necessary, Gordon said.

Gordon said it is estimated that the driver jumped out of the vehicle when he saw bystanders lying on the ground.

His condition is unknown at this time.

Motorists may experience delays and are advised to use US301 as an alternate route through Starke.
