Yasmin makes devastating appeal to anyone who knows anything about her mother’s murder

The daughter of the woman brutally murdered in her living room has made a heartbreaking call for justice. Yasmin Wilson was only four years old when she found her mother Joanne Wilson Found dead in the living room of their home in Stanley Close seacombe On October 22, 2002.

Joanne, 22, was found with serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, and a murder investigation was immediately launched. A man the mother-of-one knew was arrested and charged with murder, but all charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service on the day of the 35-year-old woman’s plea hearing.

It was only after reading the appeal in court that Yasmin learned that the charges against the man accused of murder had been dropped. ECHO last month. Now, 22 years after her mother’s murder, she is determined to get justice.

Yasmin sat down to talk to her grandmother and father’s mother, Val Gaskell, on the ECHO. In an emotional interview, the 26-year-old said: “I’m 26 and my mother was younger than me when she died.

“I struggled with this when I was 22. I was so scared because then my mom passed away and I was thinking ‘this is my age now’.” Joanne and Yasmin were living with Joanne’s twin Leanne and their children at the time of her death.

He said: “I didn’t know he had a bruise on his head or anything because when I saw him when he was little he was just sitting with his head down. I didn’t see any bruises. When I saw him later the ECHO call was heartbreaking.”

Yasmin, who works as a babysitter and lives here huytonAfter her mother’s death, she moved in with Joanne’s mother, her grandmother. She continued to live with her aunt and later moved to her father Simon’s house in Liverpool when she was nine.

Despite losing his mother at such a young age, it still left a lasting impact on the then four-year-old. Yasmin said: “I remember him as a cheerful, laughing person. He loved to dance with me and play with my toys. He was always laughing.”

Yasmin’s grandmother Val said as she wiped tears from her face: “I remember her always smiling, right?”

As Yasmin urgently seeks closure more than two decades after the senseless murder of the woman who was supposed to be there for her growing up, she has sent a clear and tragic message to those in the know. He said: “Tell us.

“We’ve been keeping this inside for all these years and we’re all suffering. It’s come out for a reason and it needs to be resolved. I feel like it needs to come out at the ECHO after all this time.”

Talking about how meaningful it would be for her mother’s murderer to be brought to justice, Yasmin said: “I feel that eventually she can be heard and if justice is provided, the whole family will not suffer as much as we did.”

In a new appeal for information from Merseyside Police, Kevin Clague, head of Merseyside Police’s Serious Crime Investigation Unit, said last month: “A murder investigation is never closed and I would appeal to people in the community to help with the investigation and remind them that no matter how small, It’s never too late to come forward with any new knowledge you may have.

“We know allegiances can change over time, and we hope that anyone reading this who has new information will search their conscience and do the right thing. If you know anything about Joanne’s murder or think you can help our investigation, please come forward.”
