On Tuesday, Nov. 12, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Burke County Sheriff’s Office investigators say they executed a search warrant in the 200 block of McCoy Church Road as part of an ongoing sexual assault investigation.

According to deputies, the search and investigation led to the arrests of 55-year-old Tommy Lynn Gilliam and 43-year-old Amanda Charlene Wilkes at the residence.

Authorities said that the investigation was launched after allegations that a young man sexually assaulted him at the residence.

During the investigation, investigators also located and arrested Mark Aaron Snell, 55, of the 1800 block of Creek Road, for his involvement in the incident, according to authorities.

All three suspects were transported to the Burke County Detention Center.

Because this is an active and ongoing investigation, additional charges may be possible. According to the sheriff’s office, due to the sensitive nature of this case and to protect the identity of the victim, additional information regarding the teen’s age or identity will not be released at this time.

A student was taken to the hospital after a fight broke out off campus near Josey High School.
