‘Strange’ Man Utd transfer rejected after claims £85m man could be replaced by exciting Brazilian

Claims that Man Utd’s new boss Ruben Amorim could use Antony in a swap deal to sign Flamengo youngster Lorran have been rejected.

Red Devils fire Erik ten Hag After a poor start to the new Premier League season, with the Dutchman picking up just three wins in his first nine games.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken a further four points from two Premier League games since Ten Hag’s departure, beating Leicester City and drawing with Chelsea.

Manchester Utd The Portuguese coach, who moved quickly to bring in Ten Hag’s permanent successor Ruben Amorim, arrived in Manchester on Monday following his final game as Sporting Lisbon manager, a 4-2 win against Braga at the weekend.

And there are already plenty of rumors about which players could arrive in the next few transfer windows, with the Red Devils looking to give Amorim some support.

While there are some doubts about whether Amorim has players suitable for the 3-4-3 formation he prefers to play in at Sporting, there are serious questions about the attackers at Man Utd.

Antony has been a huge disappointment since arriving from Ajax in an £85m deal in 2022, with the Brazilian making just two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.

This led to rumors that Antony would leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window. There were rumors earlier this week suggesting Man Utd could use him to sign Flamengo midfielder Lorran..

However, journalist Jorge Nicola has dismissed “bizarre” claims that Antony will soon be used to sign the 18-year-old.

Nicola said on her YouTube channel:: “Let’s change the subject and talk about a speculation coming from England and the rumor that Flamengo player Lorran is interested in Manchester United.

“From this point on United can use Antony as currency to recruit the 18-year-old. I must admit I found the story there strange, after all Lorran was valued at €12m while Anthony was bought for €100m.

“Anyway, I thought it would be better to call Antony’s representative, Junior Pedroso, to see if there was any search, if there was any investigation, if there was any point to this story. The answer was that Antony had no intention of leaving Manchester United.

“The club has changed a new coach, Sporting’s commander Ruben Amorim has been hired, now FIFA has presented its history and from there a new opportunity opens up for Anthony to be used better. “He has a contract with the English club for another 2.5 years and plans to continue.”
