Iranian

Iran is under a Level 4 advisory due to the risk of arbitrary arrest and detention of U.S. citizens, especially dual nationals. The US government’s ability to assist citizens in Iran is limited.

Iraq

Terrorism, kidnappings, armed conflict, and civil unrest are common in Iraq. The security situation remains dangerous and the U.S. Embassy’s ability to provide assistance is extremely limited.

Lebanon

Lebanon is experiencing civil unrest, crime, terrorism and armed conflicts. The U.S. government’s ability to provide support is limited and the security environment could deteriorate rapidly.

Libya

Armed conflict, crime, terrorism and civil unrest are common in Libya. The U.S. Embassy suspended operations in 2014, leaving no consular services.

Financial

Mali faces terrorism, kidnappings and armed conflicts, especially in the northern and central regions. The U.S. government’s ability to provide emergency services is limited.

North Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea)

Travel to North Korea is highly restricted due to the serious risk of arrest and long-term detention. The U.S. government does not have diplomatic or consular relations with North Korea.

Russia

The U.S. government’s ability to provide an emergency is limited due to the unprovoked and unjustified occupation of Ukraine by Russian military forces, the potential for detention and harassment of U.S. citizens by Russian government security officials, and arbitrary enforcement of domestic laws. Somalia
