Rico Dowdle reacts to finally being named the Dallas Cowboys’ lead RB

Dallas Cowboys Head coach Mike McCarthy announced the news that everyone who watched the team this season saw it coming. Rico Dowdle is the team’s new leader at running back.

Dallas is preparing to host Houston Texans On Monday Night Football, the team abandoned the “running backs by committee approach”, which failed the offense.

After missing Week 8 due to an illness, Dowdle rebounded strongly for the Cowboys and revived the team’s rushing attack.

Now that the news is official, Dowdle shared his reaction to the team’s announcement.

“I’m looking forward and I’m excited. I want to have the ball in my hands and show what I can do,” Dowdle said. Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I definitely think I can go out there and perform at a consistently high level.”

In Week 9, Dowdle rushed for 75 yards on 12 carries, while adding 53 yards on 12 carries in the team’s Week 10 loss against the Eagles.

Dowdle also contributed 24 receptions and three receiving touchdowns this season.

We’ll see if he can bring that high level of consistency to the offense in Week 11 of his first season.
