India produced a dominant all-round display to win the fourth T20I by 135 runs against South Africa at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday.

While the opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson made a quick start in the powerplay, the visiting team determined the course of the match. The young left-hander was dismissed by Lutho Sipamla on the penultimate ball of the batting power play, carried to the side keeper.

That was all the wickets the Proteas could manage, with Sanju batting along with Tilak Varma in the remaining innings, recording a 210-run partnership in the process. Both men reached their respective centuries as India set a massive target of 284 runs, breaking several records in the process.

South African Gerald Coetzee was unable to bowl in the powerplay due to a hamstring problem which was eventually resolved but it was too late.

What seemed like a nice batting track suddenly changed course when the floodlights came on in the second innings. The Indian pacers now saw a lot of swinging and bouncing on offer and it proved to be a threat that the hosts could not overcome.

Arshdeep Singh was on point with the new ball as he took three wickets in the powerplay to end South Africa’s hopes of getting close to the target. Hardik Pandya also contributed a wicket to get rid of Ryan Rickelton as the Proteas lost their first four batsmen in the first three overs.

The middle-order pair of Tristan Stubbs and David Miller tried to salvage reputation with an 86-run stand in 54 balls. But the Indian spinners got into action with the first one dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakravarthy taking the second one.

Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee tried to make up for the team’s disappointing batting display with a few boundaries but it didn’t last long as they were dismissed by Axar Patel.

To end the game, Ramandeep Singh took the win by taking his first international wicket and also took the four-match series to 4-1.
