Springfield woman convicted of multiple child abuse charges

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A Springfield woman has been convicted of child abuse.

Alyssa Bowman pleaded guilty Friday and was sentenced to nine years in prison on two counts of child abuse, according to court records.

Alleged crimes took place Between December 25, 2023 and March 23, 2024While the victims were under the age of 18, according to court documents.

Police were first called to Mercy Hospital, where they said a young boy was malnourished and had cuts and bruises. A second officer said the boy’s pictures looked like pictures of concentration camp victims.

A daughter told investigators that Joshua sometimes forgot to feed her. Police went to Bowman’s home and when they arrived, detectives said they found food debris, marijuana and what appeared to be feces in the playground.

Investigators say the place where the child was sleeping was a playground.

Joseph Bowman also faces multiple child abuse charges and is due to go to trial in December.
