Sentencing of man who repeatedly stabbed Cayuga lawmaker upheld along with others

Prosecutors in Cayuga County say five convictions were recently upheld by the Fourth Circuit.

The sentence for Luke Gaffney, who was found guilty of aggravated assault on a police officer after stabbing an off-duty deputy multiple times at an Aurelius residence, was upheld after he was found guilty in March 2023. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison. This will be followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.

Gregory Jordan, who was convicted of assault after becoming enraged and kicked out of a local bar in May 2022, returned with a knife and stabbed an employee. The victim was hospitalized and nearly a year later Jordan was convicted. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 3 years of post-release supervision.

Chanchhayavan Chourb, who was found guilty of two counts of possession of a controlled substance in April 2023, was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by 3 years of post-release supervision. This sentence was also approved by the court, according to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.

And finally, the Appellate Division also affirmed the convictions of two Cayuga County defendants who pleaded guilty. Rondale Cooper was convicted of possession of a controlled substance and sentenced to 4 years in prison. This sentence was upheld along with that of Andrew Wilson, who pleaded guilty to a felony family offense stemming from an incident that occurred in 2023.
