Two teenagers have been charged in a violent robbery spree in D.C. that resulted in the death of a man.

Washington, D.C. — Two teenage suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with a string of robberies in Northwest D.C., including one that left a 39-year-old man dead.

The crime spree began on Sunday, October 27, 2024, when a man was found unconscious in the 500 block of Northwest T Street after being attacked and robbed. The victim, identified as Bryan Smith of Northwest, was hospitalized with serious injuries and later died on Nov. 7. The cause and manner of his death are under investigation by the Northern Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office.

The suspects, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, both from Northeast D.C., were connected to three additional robbery crimes that occurred the same morning. These incidents included an assault with intent to commit robbery in the 1900 block of Northwest 14th Street and two separate robberies in the 1800 block of Northwest Vermont Avenue and the 900 block of Northeast Rhode Island Avenue.

The young people, who were arrested following the investigation by detectives on November 14, 2024, were charged with three counts of theft and assault with intent to rob.
