Scores of arrests, drugs and vehicles seized in Birmingham crackdown on crime

Officers from the Op Skybridge team were present handsworthand across Birminghamcarry out the execution.

During the operation, many arrests were made throughout the city and weapons, as well as drugs and vehicles, were seized.

A 19-year-old man was arrested following a short walking chase before being taken into custody on Victoria Road. A large amount of marijuana was also seized along with the knife.

The suspect, who is accused of possessing a Class B drug with intent to supply and possessing a sharp instrument, will appear in court. Birmingham Magistrates’ Court On December 3.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Washwood Heath Road. Mohammed Khan was charged with possession of Class B drugs.

The two men were arrested in Ivy Road, Handsworth, after they were spotted acting suspiciously. Both were arrested on suspicion of drug supply. They have since been released on bail while investigations continue.

Operation Skybridge officers also seized two knives and a hammer while on patrol in Handsworth.

Four vehicles were seized after it was determined that the drivers were driving without insurance.

The vehicles included an Audi S3, an Audi A3 and a stolen motorcycle.

Sergeant Leon Butler said: “It’s been a hugely successful start for the team. We’ve carried out dozens of stops and searches, made numerous arrests, disrupted drug dealing on the streets and made numerous seizures of weapons, drugs and cars.”
