A teenager who pretended to be his love rival’s girlfriend to lure him into an alley and then stabbed him in the heart with a machete has been jailed for life.

Kevin Biji, 17, posed as his girlfriend on Snapchat to lure the other 16-year-old into a dark alley to carry out the horrific attack in April.

The victim was stabbed twice in the chest but surprisingly managed to cycle home to seek help from his family.

He later texted a friend, warning her that she ‘could die’. Liverpool The Royal Court listened.

Both boys were attending the same sixth form college and were dating the same girl.

The victim was at home when he received a Snapchat message from the girl’s account inviting him for sex.

Prosecutor David Birrell said the teenager was ‘a bit suspicious’ and asked ‘whether the defendant was with him’, but was told he was not.

They met in a side street off Hailsham Road in Aigburth. Liverpool Echo reports.

But Biji, then 16, emerged wearing a balaclava and brandishing a three-foot machete.

When the other boy tried to fight back using his bike, he attacked his victim and said ‘that’s my rattle’.

The victim managed to ride away on his bike after being stabbed twice in the chest.

He was immediately taken to Aintree Hospital, where doctors discovered the gun had punctured his heart and required emergency surgery.

Doctors said the extent of the injuries required ‘as much force as a hard punch’.

Her friend sent Biji a message asking what happened, to which Biji replied that ‘he came here to fuck her’ and warned that he would ‘do this to her again’.

He was found guilty of attempted murder and the judge ruled that his name should appear in the media despite his age due to the ‘great seriousness’ of the crime.

Lloyd Morgan, defending, told the court today: ‘Kevin wants me to express his remorse, remorse and shame for committing this offence. The issue at trial was his intent. Admitted causing injuries.

‘If presented with the opportunity for restorative justice, he would welcome it, which is a very mature step for someone his age.’

Sentencing, Judge Stuart Driver KC said: ‘The defendant put on his balaclava and grabbed the knife. He ambushed his victim. He stabbed her twice with the force of a hard fist. He wanted him dead.

‘The victim continues to suffer physical harm and psychological harm, including large, permanent scarring.

‘It was planned. The victim was deliberately set up. There was intent to kill and death was avoided only by the former by luck and the latter by surgical skill.’
