Two motorcyclists killed in separate accidents in Chattogram

Two motorcyclists lost their lives in two separate highway accidents in Chattogram on Saturday.

The incidents took place on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway and Chattogram-Khagrachari regional highway.

In the first accident, 29-year-old Mahfuzur Rahman died after being hit by a covered minibus in Moulvir Dokan area of ​​Satkania Upazila around 13:00.

Mahfuzur, a sales representative of a cigarette distributor, was originally from Munshiganj district but was working in Satkania district.

Following the collision, Dohazari Road Police seized the covered minibus, but the driver managed to flee the scene.

Shubo Ranjan Chakma, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dohazari Highway Police Station, said, “The closed van has been seized and an investigation is on. Legal measures are being taken to nab the driver.”

The second accident took place around 2 pm near Baroyarhat Syed-Syeda High School in Fatikchari Upazila on the Chittagong-Khagrachari regional highway.

Syedul Anwar Babu, 23, died on the spot after his motorcycle collided head-on with a battery-powered autorickshaw.

Babu, who lives in Nazirhat Municipality area, had recently returned from abroad.

Nazirhat Highway Police Station OC Md Shahabuddin said, “The victim died instantly in the collision. The autorickshaw was seized but the driver managed to escape. We are taking legal action in this regard.”
