Advance Auto Parts will close hundreds of stores. Future of Delaware stores uncertain

Advance Auto Parts is closing or abandoning more than 700 locations nationwide by mid-2025.

The auto parts store, headquartered in North Carolina, announced it will close on November 13. This is part of a “restructuring” and “asset optimization plan” aimed at increasing profits and streamlining the company’s operations, according to a public filing. As a result, there will be a reduction in the number of staff.

It is closing 523 corporate stores and four distribution centers and exiting 204 independent locations. The locations of those closed have not been made public as of the time of this writing.

“We are charting a clear path forward and delivering a new three-year financial plan focused on implementing core retail fundamentals to improve the efficiency of all our assets and create shareholder value,” said CEO and chairman Shane O’Kelly. A statement on November 14.

How many Advance Auto Parts locations are there in Delaware?

There are 19 locations in Delaware with stores in all three counties. It has not been publicly disclosed which locations, if any, will close.

As of October, there were a total of 4,781 locations in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
