Bates explained some of the team’s thought processes when preparing for a rookie quarterback like Nix. Despite his playing time in college, the former Oregon Duck only has ten career games in the NFL.

“Ten games, that’s usually enough film to really see a quarterback’s strengths and weaknesses and what he likes to do. It’s not just a few years where we can look back and watch what he did. But sometimes, not having that much is a good thing. You don’t think too much about what this quarterback can do,” Bates said.

The Broncos and Falcons kick off Sunday in Denver at 1:05 p.m. PT.
