Mumbai: Two men sentenced to 10 years in prison hard prison (RI) by Thane sessions court for setting fire to Congress Corporation. Zübeyr İnamdarInamdar was known for his stance against street drugs.
At around 3.30 am on February 3, an unidentified person set fire to the main door of Inamdar’s flat in Smruti Cooperative Housing Society in Naya Nagar. Inamdar, a three-time business owner at the time, was visiting a sick relative at Chiplun in Ratnagiri district, while his daughters, aged 23 and 25, were sleeping in the flat.
CCTV footage shows a man securing the door from the outside before using the plastic bottle containing petrol. The attacker, wearing a black shirt and jeans, was caught by the flames before fleeing down the stairs.
Naya Nagar police registered a case of attempt to murder and arrested Asif Khan (35) and Uneb Keval (30), who lived in the neighboring building. The investigation revealed that Inamdar observed groups of young men consuming alcohol, using drugs and riding motorcycles in the area. He organized meetings with housing cooperatives to solve these problems. Of these groups, Khan and Keval planned to retaliate against Inamdar. Although they intended the fire to harm the family, only the door was damaged before the neighbors could extinguish the flames. The fire did not spread to the apartment.

After hearing 23 prosecution witnesses, District and Sessions Judge GG Bhansali found the accused guilty and imposed an additional fine of Rs 3,000 each.
