According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), at least six terrorists were killed and four others injured during an attempted attack on a security check post in Balochistan’s Kalat district. Seven soldiers lost their lives during the mutual fire.

“On the night of 15/16 November 2024, terrorists tried to attack a security forces post in Shah-i Mardan general area of ​​Kalat District,” Pakistan Army’s media affairs wing said in a statement on Saturday. he said.

Saturday’s attack came three days after security forces eliminated at least four terrorists, including a “high value target”, during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kech district.

According to the ISPR statement, in an earlier similar incident on November 12-13, security forces conducted an IBO in Miran Shah area of ​​North Waziristan after the presence of terrorists was reported.

It is worth mentioning here that according to a report published by the Research Center, the third quarter (July-September) of 2024 saw a sharp increase in terrorist violence and deaths in counter-terrorism campaigns, with a 90% increase in violent incidents. and Security Studies (CRSS).

In 328 incidents recorded during the period under review, a total of 722 people, including civilians, security personnel and outlaws, died and 615 people were injured.

Almost 97 percent of these deaths occurred in KP and Balochistan; This marks the highest percentage in a decade, and more than 92 percent of these terrorist attacks and security forces operations were recorded in the same provinces.

The total number of deaths in three quarters of this year has now exceeded the total number of deaths recorded for 2023; The number of deaths rose to at least 1,534 in the first three quarters compared to 1,523 in 2023.

Meanwhile, terrorist groups continue to reorganize and strengthen their ranks. According to the report, most terrorist attacks are not claimed by terrorists or rebel groups, probably for tactical reasons.

APP adds: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terror attack in Kalat and praised the security forces officers and jawans who killed six terrorists and injured and arrested four others, the Media Wing of the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release on Saturday.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the seven brave security personnel who sacrificed their lives while valiantly fighting the terrorists.
