Thiruvananthapuram: The family of a nursing student who died after falling from a hostel building in Pathanamthitta has alleged murder. Ammu Sajeev (22), a fourth-year student of Chuttippara Government Nursing College in Pathanamthitta, died after falling from the third floor of her hostel building on Friday evening. Ammu was a native of Ayiroopara here.

Her family claimed that Ammu was regularly subjected to ragging and character assassination. They also claimed that his classmates tried to enter his room while he was sleeping and that faculty members supported this behavior.

According to the family, Ammu was under great mental stress and her classmates had attempted to physically attack her. They also accused the university and students of trying to justify her death, stating that the problems began when Ammu was appointed tour coordinator.

“Ammu has faced problems since she was appointed tour coordinator. He had decided not to go on tour and was planning to move to Chennai to stay with his brother. He was summoned from his classroom, taken to the bathroom, and beaten. Even though she reported this to a teacher, the matter was brushed aside,” alleged Ammu’s mother Radhamani.

The family also complained to the university about the issue. Ammu said three students were given grades as a result. He was blamed for the disappearance of the logbook, which added to his stress. Although students entered his room without permission and searched it, nothing was found. “These actions caused him significant mental distress and he could no longer take it,” Radhamani said.

Radhamani added that her husband was unable to visit his daughter due to his recovery after angioplasty. “Ammu suffered from allergies and migraines and visited the hospital frequently. The tour was planned for December. The girls were involved in financial irregularities during a medical camp organized by the college. “They may have harmed Ammu out of fear of being exposed,” he alleged.

Ammu’s brother Akhil Sajeev claimed that three students were responsible for her death. “My sister would not commit suicide and there is a crime. I will go everywhere to ensure justice,” he said.

Akhil also said that Ammu had mentioned a fellow student who was preparing to attack her. “I work in Chennai and had already booked a ticket to bring her here. Initially, we were told that she had fallen. She was taken to hospital in an ambulance that did not have proper facilities. The university and the students conspired to harm her. Ammu knew about the financial irregularities committed by the students. She was afraid of even small heights.” “How could he climb so high? No first aid was given after the incident. He did not commit suicide or accidentally slip. The real cause of death needs to be revealed.”

Ammu, who was seriously injured during the fall, was first taken to Pathanamthitta General Hospital by her teachers and classmates. After informing the family, he was transferred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College via ICU ambulance. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
