Man Barricades Himself at Stafford Marketplace After Attacking TJ Maxx Shopper

Stafford, VA – A 27-year-old man from Woodbridge was arrested following an incident involving a bathroom barricade. The arrest occurred after deputies responded to Stafford Market Place on Monday morning.

Deputies arrived at the scene at 9:48 a.m. on a report of a gun-related disturbance. Witnesses told authorities that a man dressed in all black threw rocks in front of TJ Maxx and allegedly assaulted a customer. Concerns were expressed about the possibility that the suspect had a firearm in his possession.

The suspect fled to a nearby Hardee’s on Prosperity Lane and hid in a bathroom stall. Deputies attempted to negotiate with the suspect, but the suspect became uncooperative and hostile toward law enforcement.

Using OC spray, authorities were able to force the suspect to surrender. He was later charged with assault, battery and obstruction before being taken into custody without bail at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

The rock used in the attack was later removed from behind the bathroom fixture.
