A double murder investigation has been launched in Manchester after two men were stabbed to death in the street in Moss Side

Double murder investigation launched after two people were stabbed to death Manchesterpolice confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police After arriving in Moss Side at around 5am on Sunday we arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

Despite their best efforts, paramedics were unable to save the lives of two people and asked locals to stay away from Great Southern Street and Kippax Street, where forensic tents were set up.

A statement from police added: “There is an emergency services presence on Great Southern Street in Moss Side while officers are responding to an incident.

“The police intervened and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, two people were treated at the scene and unfortunately pronounced dead.

“We arrested a person on suspicion of murder.

“Please avoid the area as multiple emergency services are available this morning whilst we determine the full circumstances of the incident.”

Details of those killed and arrested were not disclosed.

BBC reported He said several police officers were patrolling the area and a green bike was seen on the road.

“It’s very, very scary,” one resident told the BBC.

“I’m worried about my children because it’s not safe here.”

Another told the Mail:: “We can’t go out right now. I saw this around 4am this morning; There was a man lying on the ground outside my window, and another was lying further away.

“I woke up to blue lights and sirens; My neighbor told me they were the ones who called the police.

“I can’t leave the house at all right now, I’m completely stuck.

“It’s terrible; this is the first time I’ve seen anything like this in my life.”

Police said the suspect was being held for questioning and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

“We are treating this as an isolated incident that does not pose a threat to the wider public,” the statement said.

“We would like to thank the public for their cooperation and patience as a cordon has been put in place in and around Great Southern Street. While we establish the full circumstances of the incident this morning, we would ask the public to continue to avoid the area as there is a large emergency services presence.”
