Pregnant Pakistani woman murdered in cold blood by her mother-in-law

In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman in Pakistan was allegedly murdered by her mother-in-law and three accomplices. His body was cut into dozens of pieces and dumped in a drain in Punjab province, according to police.
The crime took place last week in Daska in Sialkot district, about 100 kilometers from Lahore.
While a murder case was filed against the suspects, 4 people were arrested regarding the crime. Among those arrested were her mother-in-law, Sughran Bibi; daughter Yasmin; his grandson Hamza; and a distant relative, Navid.
Senior police officer Omar Farooq told reporters that the suspects confessed to killing Zara and dismembering her body.
Zara Kadir, a woman in her 20s, went missing last week and police later found her dismembered body, identified as hers, in three sacks.
Zara, the daughter of a police officer, married Kadir Ahmed four years ago and they had a three-year-old son. After marriage, she went to Saudi Arabia and returned to Pakistan a few months ago.
Farooq said, “Sughran Bibi, in his confession, said that he was suspicious of Zara’s claim of ‘witchcraft’, and also that his son Kadir started sending money directly to Zara’s bank account instead of his mother.”
He added that the four suspects smothered pregnant Zara with a pillow while she was sleeping, and then started burning her face. They then cut his body into dozens of pieces and threw it into the sewer in three sacks.
“Based on Zara’s father’s statement that he suspected Sughran after he claimed that Zara had eloped with her lover after her disappearance, we interrogated Sughran, who confessed to the crime,” Farooq said.
He also stated that Sughran is also Zara’s aunt.
Farooq stated that this was an example of extreme jealousy and that his mother-in-law and daughter not only killed Zara but also dismembered her body out of hatred. He added that Sughran and Yasmin believed that Zara’s good looks made Kadir prefer her and ignore them in the process.
