PFF Grades Coming After Cincinnati Bearcats Football’s Defeat at Iowa State

CINCINNATI — UC football’s defense did just about enough to give the Bearcats a chance to win on Saturday, but the offense and special teams couldn’t do enough to overcome the 34-17 result against Iowa State. PFF’s rating also reflected this; no special teams player had an overall grade above 62.8.

On offense, Corey Kiner led the way with an 85.9 overall grade on a strong day carrying the football. Brendan Sorsby (70.3 overall, 71.7 run rating) was behind him, followed by John Williams (70.2), Luke Kandra (67.8) and Joe Royer (63.9).

Sorsby graded higher as a passer (61.7 rushing grade) even though he rushed for a career-high 141 yards and a score.

Francis Sherman (40.5) had the lowest grade on offense in another solid showing for him in Cincinnati. Other names in the bottom places included Gavin Grover (49.4), Gavin Gerhardt (50.7) and Xzavier Henderson (51.2).

In defense, young defender Simeon Colemen continued his leadership with an overall grade of 85.6. He was followed by Jordan Young (77.3), Jack Dingle (73.5), Eric Phillips (73.4) and Jonathan Thompson (73.3) in the top five.

Cincinnati has gone consecutive weeks without significant defensive responsibilities. There are no players graded below 58 overall as this unit continues to show strong depth.
