INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the city’s south side Sunday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release.

At approximately 2:55 p.m. Sunday, IMPD officers were dispatched to the intersection of Heathwood Drive and South Emerson Boulevard on a report of a personal injury crash. This is near a residential area on the south side of the city.

Police teams arriving at the scene determined that a car and a motorcycle had collided. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital.

A short time later, it was determined by medical teams that the motorcycle driver had died.

Investigators believe the motorcyclist was heading north on South Emerson Street. The vehicle was traveling southbound and making an eastbound turn when the two collided. The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital for a blood draw, which is standard procedure for a fatal or serious bodily injury accident.
