Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said on Monday that northern India is facing a medical emergency due to hazardous air quality caused by stubble burning.

Addressing a press conference here, Atishi said the BJP-led central government is playing politics on the pollution issue but has taken no steps to control stubble burning in states like Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, all of which are governed by saffron. party.

Praising AAP-ruled Punjab, he said it was the only state where stubble burning cases had decreased significantly. He claimed that these rates have increased in BJP-ruled states.

Due to Delhi’s deteriorating air quality, elderly people are being hospitalized and children need inhalers and steroids to breathe, Atishi said.

Delhi’s air quality deteriorated to the “severe plus” category on Monday, with the city’s AQI recorded at 484. Stricter pollution control measures, including banning trucks and suspending construction on public projects, came into effect in the morning.

Dense toxic smoke caused visibility to drop sharply in the morning hours.
