5 Reasons Why I Don't Think I've Hated A Character More In My Life Than Oz Cobb

i liked it Penguin. It was definitely one The best shows streaming on Maxand perhaps one of the best DC-related shows ever. I’ve already explained what I think the show is like a great feminist dramabut now I want to write about something that seriously bothered me about the series, and that’s the Penguin himself!

Now, I don’t mean to say Colin Ferrell didn’t do a good job, because that couldn’t be further from the truth. Actually, like others on this site, I like Colin Ferrell’s performance as the Penguin more than I thought I would the movie he appeared in. That said, I don’t think I’ve ever hated any character more than Oz Cobb, and I have 5 reasons why.

He Never Showed Remorse for Killing His Brothers

Okay, so that meant something Penguin Where I really sympathize with Oz Cobb. It was early on that other characters referred to him as Penguin. belittle him for his limping gait. I immediately felt sorry for him and liked that he eliminated the people who called him names. I felt like it was deserved.

However, Episode 7, titled “Top Hat”, destroyed any sympathy I had for the character. In earlier episodes we hear mention of Oswald’s siblings and vague ideas of how they died. Oz showed that they too were gangsters and met a grisly end.

But at the beginning of Episode 7, we go back to Oz’s childhood and learn that no, Oz’s siblings wasn’t bad guys. They actually seemed like really nice kids; Children whom Oswald was extremely jealous of.

Calling Oz a “mama’s boy” would be an understatement. Oz just didn’t want some attention from his mother. He wanted ALL of these things, that might not have been the real reason he locked his brothers in the sewers, but he definitely didn’t feel bad for doing it. He had that smug look on his face as he sat on the couch with his mother and watched a movie with her in their absence.

And no, I can’t reconcile that. The worst part was that Oz never showed any remorse for his actions, even as an adult. It seems he may have compartmentalised their actions and even blamed them for their own deaths; Like if they want to live this badly, they have to find another way out. Oz is such a terrible person, truly disgusting.

He Really Shouldn’t Have Beaten Sofia

Honestly, who doesn’t love Sofia Falcone? In addition to being able to eliminate most of his enemies in a jiffywe also learned in the Sofia-based episode “Cent’Anni” that he is not actually “Man the Man” but rather a tragic figure wronged by his own father!

In this way, Sofia went from being a villain of sorts to being a woman who was despised and rightfully took her revenge on the people who wronged her. When he killed everyone connected to his family, we understood why he did such a thing. He even spared his innocent nephew, which is more than we can say for what Oz Cobb would have done in a similar situation.

When it came to the surprising final episode, I honestly expected Sofia to have the last laugh. I don’t know why I got this impression since it’s the name of the series. PenguinNegative Sofia Falconebut I really didn’t want Oz Cobb to beat him in the end.

Not only that, but what really bothered me was the way Oz defeated him. If Oz had shot him in the back of the head with which he had seemingly made peace, then I would have been okay with him winning.

But Oz made sure Sofia was sent back to Arkham Asylum, a fate worse than death for her, which made me hate Oz even more. Yes, Sofia turned her own mother against her, but I think she was right to do that and I really wanted her to win. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.

Even though He Promised to Kill His Mother, He Selfishly Did Not Let His Mother Die

Speaking of Öz’s mother, we could see that she was suffering even in the first episode. We didn’t know exactly what he was going through at the time, but over the course of the season we learned that he had Lewy Body dementia and was acutely aware of his steady decline.

He even asked his own son to kill him if things got worse. And although he was reluctant, he said he would do it if it got so bad he was drooling all over himself, which he ended up doing in the final episode after a debilitating stroke.

And look. I understand What son could honestly kill his own mother? I understand that Oz will never let him out. miseryBut did he have to take her from the hospital, from her bed, etc., and put her in the attic he always promised?

You could also tell he wanted to die because he had a tear running down his face. Maybe he couldn’t express his pain, but it was certainly obvious to the viewer, even though he was no longer Oz Cobb, who seemed to be in his own little world.

ending Penguin it was (almost) perfectand that’s because the show always operates as a tragedy. What could be more tragic than Oz’s poor mother, who has suffered all her life, being kept alive against her clear wishes? God, Oz is selfish.

The Oedipus Complex Goes from an Interesting Character Trait to an Extreme Point I Wasn’t Ready for in the Last Episode

I just talked about how selfish Oz is, but he’s also sick. Very, very sick.

We can understand that Oz is experiencing some kind of Oedipus Complex from the way he dances with his mother or sleeps next to her like a lover. But I had no idea how sick he was until the last few minutes when he was with his slutty girlfriend Eve. To look like her mother.

I actually never noticed this before the last episode where Eve wore a dress like her mother, but in many ways Eve looked like her even without the dress.

In hindsight, this makes a lot of sense, as Oz really does seem a bit young. more He was in love with his mother, but it really took the final moments for me to put two and two together and cringe into those final seconds.

In a way, I felt sorry for Oz again. Yes, he was a terrible person that no one could trust; even her best friends (more on that later) and yes, she killed her own siblings and helped put Sofia in Arkham twice! But he was obviously mentally unstable, so maybe he was completely damaged.

But then I remembered what he did on stage before this final moment and I hated him all over again.

He killed Victor!

A long time ago I wrote how much I loved you Portrayed by Rhenzy Feliz as Victorand one of the things I said I loved about the character was how he humanized Oz.

Of course, Oz was a bad person, but he could have killed Victor in the first episode, but he didn’t. In fact, he took Victor under his wing and was almost like a second father to Victor after the tragic events that left him without his family.

Victor was at Oswald’s side many times, and in Episode 3, Victor made a choice This would change the course of his life forever, as he saved Oz from certain death.

How does Oz Cobb thank Victor for everything he has done for him? He brutally strangled Victor in the park as he begged for his life, and then left Victor to die so he could go back to his precious mother.

I swear, this was the moment that made me hate Oswald and I could never forgive him. I don’t even want season 2 anymore. I can’t stand this character one more second!
