Radnor wine bar and boutique store coming to Wayne after BOC approves liquor license transfer

RADNOR — A new business that the owner describes as a wine bar and boutique store is coming to Wayne.

Radnor Township commissioners last week approved transferring a liquor license for Nature’s Vin to Radnor.

Nature’s Vin is in the former location of Cowan’s Flower Shop, 193-195 E. Lancaster Ave. It will be located at.

During the meeting, owner Ragini Parmar described Nature’s Vin as “a wine bar and boutique store.”

Parmar added that a small restaurant will also be associated with Nature’s Vin.

“We will focus on natural wines,” Parmar said.

He added other terms to describe the business, such as natural, biodynamic and organic.

After one of the commissioners asked what biodynamics meant, Parmar said it was the way farmers farm.

“So what produces organic grapes are sustainable efforts in farming, but if you add any type of preservatives or any toxins to those organic grapes, they are no longer natural, so they actually fall into three different categories,” Parmar said.

Parmar said involvement in the wine industry will also play a role at Nature’s Vin, as it focuses on female farmers, owners and winemakers.

A glass of wine will be priced between $12 and $20, Parmar said. Bottles range from $20 to $60 or more. The only type of alcohol sold at the establishment would be wine.

“So we will take alcohol service very seriously by providing appropriate training to all staff,” Parmar said. “It’s also not going to be a bar where people hang out and drink or what you think of as a traditional bar. This is more of a tasting room. “It’s an educational center to really understand wines, understand the story behind these winemakers, and have the winemakers speak to the community as well.”

Transferring liquor licenses from Upper Darby to Radnor required county approval. As part of the license transfer, the commissioner’s written decision must be submitted to the state liquor control board.

According to documents filed with the district, the business will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Holiday hours will also be limited.

The proposed business would house approximately 38 customers.

Parmar said he expects to appear before the Radnor Township Design and Review Board next month.

According to documents filed with the county, Naturer’s Vin’s soft opening is expected to take place in late February and its public opening is expected to take place in mid-March.
