Atlantic City Resident Pleads to Aggravated Sexual Assault

MAY LANDING, NJ — Eric Williams, a 56-year-old Atlantic City resident, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated sexual assault in his plea on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024. The guilty plea was filed in Atlantic County Superior Court, where Williams will face off. Recommended sentence of 12 years in New Jersey State Prison. Under the terms of the plea, Williams must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole. He will also be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law upon release and will be on parole supervision for life.

The incident that led to Williams’ conviction occurred on May 19, 2022, at the Atlantic City bus terminal. According to court documents, Williams sexually assaulted an adult female who was sleeping in the terminal’s lobby. The attack was captured by the terminal’s security cameras, which played a crucial role in his eventual arrest.

Williams’ sentencing is scheduled for March 19, 2025, before Her Honor Judge Pamela D’Arcy. The investigation into this case was conducted jointly by the New Jersey Transit Police, highlighting the effectiveness of interagency cooperation in combating this type of serious crime.
