Kolkata police tighten security around Sanjay Roy, prime accused of RG Kar’s rape and murder

Following allegations made by the main defendant that the police conspired to silence him. RG Kar rape and murder caseKolkata police tried to prevent Sanjay Roy from interacting with the media. Police personnel were seen crashing into prison vans as journalists could not hear what the defendant was saying during his appearance in court today.

The police move comes after the accused made shocking allegations against former Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal while leaving his first hearing on November 11. “Big officers… I even give you names, Vineet Goyal, DC Special, they are trying to conspire against me. “They conspired against me,” he said. Meanwhile, the suspect was quickly removed from the scene with a police vehicle.

Mr. Roy, the main defendant in the case, was seen being escorted to court from the nearby Presidential Correctional Facility in a police car with all windows rolled up and covered in black glass. Interestingly, some police officers were seen constantly hitting the roof of the police van to make loud noises so that journalists could not understand what the accused was trying to say. Police also honked the police van’s horn to make loud noise throughout the process.

After the video went viral, the defendant was brought to court with increased security on November 12 and was escorted to the building by a convoy of five minibuses. All media members were ignored and no contact was made with the defendants.

A press release from the Raj Bhawan Media Cell on November 13 stated that West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose had also asked for an “urgent report” from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

He was charged under new chapters of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 64 (rape), Section 66 (punishment for causing death or causing persistent vegetative state) and Section 103 (punishment for murder).

Mr. Roy, a volunteer undercover police officer, was arrested on August 10, a day after the horrific rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor came to light and shook the state.
