Atlanta police say a 14-year-old boy was stabbed by his male relative Sunday afternoon

ATLANTAA 14-year-old boy was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after being stabbed during a dispute in south Atlanta.

Police responded to a call about a stabbing in the 1600 block of Thornton Place SW around 3:04 p.m. When police teams arrived at the scene, they found the young man stabbed in the back. He was awake, conscious and breathing before being transported to the hospital for treatment, according to Atlanta police.

According to investigators, the stabbing occurred during an argument between the boy and his male relative that turned violent. The teams detained the suspect at the scene.

The Domestic Violence Branch Office’s investigation into the incident continues. Officials did not release additional details.
