Barrie police have released new details about their investigation as they continue to search for suspects in a Saturday morning attack that left one victim stabbed and the perpetrators evading police.

Police said in the early hours of November 16 officers received a report of an assault on Dunlop Street, where a victim suffered minor stab wounds.

Police said the attack is believed to have occurred between 2.30am and 3.15am.

Investigators were able to identify several people of interest in the case, police said. Officers responded to St. Louis in Barrie to locate the individuals. He went to an address in the area of ​​Vincent and Rose streets.

Police said investigators, assisted by uniformed officers, conducted a traffic stop after the suspects left the address in a vehicle.

Police said two men were arrested after trying to escape from officers.

According to police, officers found a loaded handgun that had been discharged by a third party, as well as a quantity of drugs.

However, subsequent investigation determined that the two men arrested were not persons of interest in the stabbing on Dunlop Street.

It is believed that the third person who was in the vehicle and escaped was with the person responsible for the stabbing during the attack. The search for these people by the police continues.

Regarding the stabbing in the city centre, police said they were trying to identify the people depicted in the photographs.

In connection with the traffic stop, police said a 30-year-old Scarborough man is facing multiple drug and firearms-related charges, as well as a charge of assault on a peace officer.

A 23-year-old Brampton man also faces multiple drug and firearms-related charges.

During the arrest, police said one of the suspects was injured, which resulted in the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) being informed and calling for their duties.
